Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

  • Lead by example. Be Safe – Be Legally Compliant – Communicate
  • Serve as a safety mentor, guiding, gently encouraging, and educating. Cultural change requires cooperation rather than confrontation.
  • Avoid unnecessarily obstructing activities. Whenever possible, provide positive and constructive solutions to problems. Be a problem solver, not a problem.
  • Never provide unqualified advice. Only act in accordance with your roles, responsibilities, level of experience, and ESA endorsements.
  • Seek out Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) whenever expert input is needed.
  • Provide advice only on physical safety and safety compliance issues, unless requested otherwise.
  • Whenever possible, advice should be given in writing. Verbal advice alone may not be covered by professional insurance.
  • Provide advice only when you are certain it is correct. Never guess or fabricate answers to questions.
  • Remain present on set. Choose the most efficient location to carry out your work and remain visible.
  • Do not perform work for a different client while required to monitor the set or while engaged by the client who has paid for your time, unless approved by that client.
  • You may not hold two positions that could reasonably be considered a conflict of interest. For example, the stunt coordinator cannot simultaneously act as the safety supervisor. You cannot oversee yourself.
  • You may hold two positions that complement each other, provided there is no requirement for each role to be in different places at the same time. For example, the safety supervisor may also serve as the first aider. Both positions aim to prevent injury without conflicting.
  • Avoid being abusive or aggressive toward other personnel. Use polite tact before escalating any interaction, if necessary. Remain professional when in contact with talent, celebrities, and actors. Do not seek out social contact on or off the set.
  • Dress cleanly and appropriately for the conditions and circumstances.
  • Never report to work intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
